Tiki culture for the first time in American consciousness summarized in 1930, born in Texas, Ernest Raymond Beaumont-Gantt, who had traveled the South Pacific, opened the restaurant Don Beachcomber in Hollywood. The Polynesian-themed restaurant offers Cantonese cuisine and exotic rum concoctions in a tropical environment of burning torches, leis and colorful fabrics.

Following the standard set by the Beachcomber, Trader Vic (Victor Bergeron), his firstPolynesian-style restaurant in Oakland, was the world in a chain of restaurants. The popularity of Trader Vic's restaurant arrived in the '50s and '60s, riding the wave of enthusiasm Tiki at the moment, but the popularity of the restaurant chain, finally accepted if Tiki lost its appeal to new generations.

In recent years, the interest, however, renewed interest in culture also saw the Tiki Tiki theme restaurants and bars to get more young people to understand thatstrong drinks and unique atmosphere of these places.

Another catalyst for the introduction and potential widespread acceptance of Tiki, the stories and memories are brought home by soldiers who fought in the Pacific during World War II. The fantastic tales of exotic and beautiful islands of inspiration for James Michener's book Tales of the South Pacific who write won the Pulitzer Prize in 1948. One year after the book was the basis for the award winning SouthPacific Rodgers and Hammerstein musical, which won the Pulitzer Prize and Tony Awards swept. The musical released in turn was the basis for the film version in 1958.

Hawaiian statehood in 1959 brought the golden age of tiki popularity in the United States. Americans love the exotic culture of the Outer Islands, has been romanticized in restaurants, bars, music, Broadway and Hollywood. Polynesian-inspired design began to permeate many aspects of American life at homeLandscape, landscapes and architecture.

Now that all that is the problem in the sense that we say: what is the Tiki culture? These are just the crazy drinks and exotic foods? Tropical atmosphere brought by a colored background? The distinctive tiki statues, masks, Tiki and other collectibles are just too irresistible for their entertainment value?

A definition of culture is that it is customary beliefs, social forms and material traits of asocial group that are transmitted from generation to generation. In short, the lifestyle of people in a given area that is unique. Thus, the Polynesian culture, is Tiki, consists of the island cultures of the South Pacific as a whole (although it can each island its own customs and beliefs, which is very different from 'island have taken to the next.) Tiki culture is so a mixture of what has come to appreciate for the South West PacificIslands: the friendly people, the charm of the traditions and practices, the lively music, imaginative works of art, architecture, forms of practical and exciting pieces of jewelry that are not only decorative but functional as they are.

Unfortunately it is very difficult for the Americans, their communities and homes in a tropical paradise such as Hawaii, Tiki culture, symbolized by the transformation. So I left for the next best thing - with tropical decor tiki artifacts, to hear their paradise. It isFor that reason, Tiki totems they are in high demand: a small tiki statue as the centerpiece of a table or just one very big in the garden are not just pieces of great conversation, but rather to transform attitudes to work in a little 'more heat and life.
