Our book of the month of December 2007, a Select One Thousand White Women, The Journals of May Dodd Jim Fergus. The women in this book tries to make a change for the better. It was their belief that they could, class and racial barriers of having children cross and then to assimilate the culture of Native Americans and a better society in all. The main character, May, was an optimist, even after living in abusive conditions forced them to love a man in a lower class.
